"When we are authentic,
we author ourselves."
Someone told me that
yesterday, and I LOVE
that statement.
It makes perfect sense.
When we are anything
less than who we
authentically are, we
are being someone that
another thinks we should
be. We hold ourselves
in reserve or distort
ourselves, based on what
others think we should
be. In essence these
people and things are
"authoring" who we are.
When we decide to be
who we are, and show
the world without
reserve and editing,
then that is when we
get to create who we
are. That is when
we get to be the
authors of
our own lives.
Can I just say...
BRILLIANT.
PS I have no idea who
said it. If there is
a known attribution
that you know of, please
let me know. Always
want to give credit
where credit is due!

The closest I could find was Xunwu Chen from a book called Being and Authenticity.

I wouldn't quote it though without reading the book. But he does use much the same wording.
Thanks for the info. I may have to check it out at some point.
