a new Lane Bryant lingerie commercial.
Wanting to be fair to the situation, I sought
out what information I could. The initial
coverage made me think that the issue was
"too much cleavage," however it now seems it
was too much cleavage for the "family hour,"
plus the message was, according to some, too
risque.
I have always had ample cleavage, and I must
admit I was triggered by this, LOL. I used
to be in the corporate world, and more than
once I was criticized for how I dressed.
I never dressed inappropriately. I just
didn't dress to minimize what I had (not sure
how much I could have done that, even if I
tried). Most of those who had issues
(as far as I knew) were women, and they
didn't have what I had.
If they were the size I was, I'd like to see
how they would dress. Clothing is not made
for bigger sized women. Most things can't
help but highlight was is there.
As a side note, knowing what I know now...
I can't help but wonder what the men thought.
I am not usually one to make lines, but I
suspect in this case there might have been one.
Of course, this also begs the question in my
mind, why is this an issue in the first place?
What do you think?
Per a post comment, here is a Victoria
Secret commercial to compare the
above with.
I suspect part of the issue with Lane
Bryant were the suggestive words. It
could be hypocrisy but, as usual, since
I really don't know all the details, I
am willing to give the benefit of the
doubt, and just pose the questions.
Sorry, but I've seen Victoria Secret commercials that were waaaay more riske than this, especially the one directed by Michael Bay. That spot got national air play, was on all the news and the networks didn't bat an eyelash about airing it.

Hypocrisy of the highest order. Makes me quite sick actually.
Thanks for your comment, and the video link. As you can see, I amended by entry to include it.
ReplyDeleteI suspect hypocrisy, however, not knowing all of the details, it is difficult to say for certain.
One thing I say is good for Lane Bryant. I bet with the controversy more people are seeing it than otherwise would.
:)
Hypocrisy & censorship are guided only by money these days IMO. Things like right/wrong or good/bad aren't part of the equation any longer (as far as the media's concerned)
ReplyDeleteyou are 1000 times more sexy than those women, youtube censors are overwhelmed by you.
ReplyDeleteI understand them youre so sexy for youtube
