Who wants to be hypnotized when they could be hypnotouched*?

(It's ALL) About Me (yeah, right!)

I am about many things...to box me into ONE would be a very big mistake.

People experience me as intelligent and offbeat, with a perspective that is NOT down the worn path.
Those who enjoy speaking with me quite frequently find things they didn't even know they were looking for.
If what I have to say seems interesting or might be helpful to you, let's talk!

There is a chat box in the right column,
feel free to chat with others when I am not there, or with me, when I am.
(If you're hearing *blips* while visiting, there is likely to be conversation going on at the time).

Hypnosis in the Movies

I came across someone's list today
of movies with hypnosis, and thought
it might be interesting for some who
read this blog -
http://www.hypno-movies.com/alphabet.html.

I don't know what criteria they use,
but one movie that isn't included is
Office Space. In the movie the main
character is being hypnotized when
the hypnotist dies, and stays that
way for most (if not all) of the movie.

I realize that it's something the writer
does for the movie, but it certainly can
be misleading for someone who doesn't
know anything about hypnosis.

Some people walk around in trance states
"naturally." They are the ones that
would likely wind up in a stage show,
or be an easy mark for a quick induction.
It's something that they're unlikely
to be aware of, and it's also something
that could be problematic. It is also
something that be altered with an awareness
of what is happening.

When a hypnotist induces a trance, one of
two things will happen to the person in
the trance, should the trance suddenly stop.
The person will come out of it, or the
person will fall asleep. Once the person
falls asleep, the trance effectively ends.

If the scene is truly the extent of the
hypnotic session, then the character is
definitely more suggestible than most, as
most people wouldn't get into a trance
that easily, quickly, or deeply. Even
still, the likelihood of him staying in
the hypnotist induced state as much as
is implied is unlikely as his own natural
suggestible state would more likely
be in play.

If you walk around in your life being
unaware of things that happen in a way
that you are unable to remember them, or
you are constantly misplacing your keys,
you may want to consider that you are in
suggestible states quite often.

If this is you, try counting from 1 to 5
and tell yourself you are awake and alert,
and see if you feel any different. That
alone could help, however, you might want
to get some assistance from a hypnotist
to make you less inclined to trance, and
more inclined to focus on the moment.

Just for the heck of it, here is the
Office Space clip of the character being
hypnotized.

Have a great day!
