Today someone said to me
that every time we speak,
it seems that he is
affected by me more.
There was an element of
surprise in his voice.
He has been calling me for
a while now, and has asked
me to play with him
hypnotically. Maybe we've
had 6? calls to date.
I bring him up because
so often I get people who
call who think that I might
be wrong in what I say
when it comes to potential
perils of hypnosis unethically
used.
Maybe they think I'm making
stuff up, or maybe they just
don't see how possible it
is that things can happen.
What these people don't realize
is that to some degree we are
constantly be affected by what
happens to us/around us/and
in our thinking.
As a matter of fact, did you
know that when you first have
a thought, you are laying a
type of mental roadway?
The next time you think the
thought, you add to its
staying power. Think of a
bike path that becomes a dirt
road.
The next time you think the
thought it adds to it again,
and now the dirt road becomes
a road for cars.
The next time you think the
thought it becomes a Intrastate
Highway.
The next times you think the
thought it becomes an Interstate
Highway.
The next time you think the
thought it becomes an Interstate
Highway with rush hour traffic.
The next time you think the
thought it becomes an Interstate
Highway that is ALWAYS crowded
because towns and exits have
been built up along the way.
The next time...
OK...I am sure you get the idea.
Each and every time you think a
thought, you encourage it to
stick around, and become a part
of who you are, a part of your
landscape. It is in part
responsible for the formation
of your habits.
For many, it is an unconscious
process. You think there's no
harm in the joke. You think
there's no harm in just "one more."
You think you have control.
Until...
One day, you are surprised by
what has occurred. Hopefully
it's a good surprise. However,
depending on what it is, it may
be something that is less than
desired.
“Watch your thoughts,
for they become words.
Watch your words,
for they become actions.
Watch your actions,
for they become habits.
Watch your habits,
for they become character.
Watch your character,
for it becomes your destiny.”
(I am not sure who said it,
if anyone knows, please let
me know - thanks).
It all starts in a moment,
and moments can add up
sooner than you realize.
Consider taking your steps
with caution and consideration -
especially when you think
you know better.
Have a great night!
